Baseball Game Preview: Oak Hill Red Devils vs. Hurricane Redskins

The Oak Hill Red Devils are taking a road trip to challenge the Hurricane Redskins at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Oak Hill will be strutting in after a victory while Hurricane will be coming in after a loss.

Oak Hill hadn't beaten Riverside on the road since March 21, 2024 but that history sure didn't bother them on Monday. The Red Devils walked away with a 6-2 win over the Warriors.

Beau Elswick spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Owen Grose was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Oak Hill is 2-1 when Grose posts three or more RBI, but 4-22 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Braxton Sizemore, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Hurricane faced Ripley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Redskins fell 4-1 to the Vikings. The Redskins have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Hurricane's defeat dropped their record down to 23-8. As for Oak Hill, their victory ended an eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-23.

Oak Hill might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Hurricane in their previous matchup back in April of 2022. Can the Red Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
