Basketball Recap: Bradford Academy Comes Up Short

After soaring to 66 points the game before, Bradford Academy was a bit more limited in their game on Thursday. They were outmatched by the New Garden Friends Bears and fell 70-16. While losing is never fun, the Archers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 627th, while the Bears are ranked 281st).

It was another big night for Curtis Russell, who posted 16 points for New Garden Friends. Russell is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kingston Clifton, who scored 11 points and three steals.

Bradford Academy dropped their record down to 2-9 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for New Garden Friends, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-10 record this season.

Bradford Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Crossroads Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Crossroads Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.3 points per game this season. New Garden Friends has already played their next matchup, a 62-53 victory against Cape Fear Christian Academy on the 24th.
