Football Game Preview: Legacy Academy Silverbacks vs. Loving Falcons

The Legacy Academy Silverbacks will face off against the Loving Falcons at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Legacy Academy will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.

Legacy Academy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Mexico's top teams: Santa Rosa, who was ranked 22nd at the time (Legacy Academy was ranked 19th). The Silverbacks' defense stepped up to hand the Lions a 6-0 shutout two weeks ago.

Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Loving walked away with it. They managed a 44-40 victory over the Bears on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Bears: they've now won three in a row.

Loving's win came from a few key players Legacy Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Brodie Allen, who rushed for 176 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.7 yards per carry. Those four rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tristen Onsurez, who rushed for 56 yards and one TD on only seven carries.

Loving was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 237 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in four consecutive contests.

Legacy Academy's record is now 9-1. As for Loving, their record now sits at 8-3.

Legacy Academy might still be hurting after the 42-20 defeat they got from Loving when the teams last played back in November of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Onsurez, who rushed for 103 yards and four scores, and also threw for 156 yards and one touchdown.
