Baseball Recap: Northside Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Northside had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They had just enough and edged the Smiths Station Panthers out 2-1 on Thursday. For the Patriots, this counts as revenge for the 14-5 win the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Jacob McClure tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and only a hit over 4.1 innings pitched.

At the plate, Northside saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Javion Windham, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Coming up, Northside will head out on the road to take on Columbus at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Smiths Station, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Panthers duke it out with the Wildcats at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
