Baseball Recap: Lanier Takes a Loss

Lanier was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 12-3 to the Seckinger Jaguars. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Jaguars this season, with their most recent defeat being a 11-0 loss last Wednesday.

Ethan Curtis was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Lanier saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Vincenzo Prigge, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

Lanier's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Seckinger, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-2.

Lanier didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-1 loss against Chattahoochee on the 3rd. As for Seckinger, they have also already played their next game, a 12-2 victory against Duluth on the 3rd.
