Softball Recap: Delta's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Delta dropped to 14-6 on Thursday, ending the team's five-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Rifle Bears by a score of 16-15. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bears apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Sophia Siennicki was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Kaden White also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

As for Rifle, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games.

On Rifle's side, Gia Keithley was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up four earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. Keithley has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in September.

In other batting news, Rifle got a massive performance out of Aaliyah Mangnall, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs Mangnall has posted since back in August. Another player making a difference was Katherine Santana, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Delta didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 12-1 defeat against Durango on the 6th. As for Rifle, they have also already played their next matchup, a 7-2 victory against Basalt on the 7th.
