Basketball Recap: Pleasant Grove Drops Season-High Score on Cosumnes Oaks

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pleasant Grove). They blew past the Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack 70-27 on Friday. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 23 points or more this season.

Pleasant Grove was led to victory by Kate Myers and Lily Scarbrough. Myers went 7-for-12 on her way to 23 points in addition to six assists and four steals, while Scarbrough dropped a double-double with 18 points and 12 boards. The dominant performance also gave Scarbrough a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Anniyah Banks, who posted eight points.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Pleasant Grove was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cosumnes Oaks only racked up five assists.

Despite the defeat, Cosumnes Oaks saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Skylar Williams put up nine points and four steals. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for Williams. Amayi Feliz also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Pleasant Grove's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-8. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points over those games. As for Cosumnes Oaks, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-16.

Coming up, Pleasant Grove is taking a road trip to take on Lincoln at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cosumnes Oaks does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
