Baseball Recap: Graham-Kapowsin Eagles vs. Puyallup Vikings
Graham-Kapowsin extended their losing streak to five on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 11-10 in the process. They lost 8-1 to the Puyallup Vikings. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 13-2 to the Vikings when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
As for Puyallup, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 21-0. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 9.0 runs this season.
For Puyallup's part, Mason Pike made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Pike has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Jett Reed looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March.
Back at the plate, Brayden Landry was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since April 1st. Kyler Malnar was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
