Recap: Piner Prospectors vs. Santa Rosa Panthers
The Piner Prospectors lost against the Santa Rosa Panthers back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Piner ended up on the wrong side of a tough 55-32 walloping at the hands of Santa Rosa. Piner was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-10.
Betzie Hernandez and Vanessa Cruz Hernandez certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Hernandez scored 12 points, while Cruz Hernandez scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Piner has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for Santa Rosa, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-5.
Piner will head out on the road to face off against Rancho Cotate at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Santa Rosa won't have much time to rest: their next game is against El Cerrito at 2:00 p.m. on January 6th. El Cerrito will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1032nd, while Santa Rosa is ranked 439th).
