Basketball Recap: Sharpsville Blue Devils vs. Grove City Eagles
The Sharpsville Blue Devils lost against the Grove City Eagles back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Sharpsville fell to the Eagles 56-52. While losing is never fun, Sharpsville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 434th, while the Eagles are ranked 163rd).
Sharpsville's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Lily Palko, who scored 15 points, and Macie Steiner who scored 16 points.
Sharpsville has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for Grove City, the win (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 14-3.
Sharpsville will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Orioles at 7:00 p.m. As for Grove City, they will head out on the road to face off against the Greyhounds at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Wilmington is on a three-game streak of home wins, the Eagles a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
