Knox hasn't had much luck against Bremen recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Redskins will challenge the Lions at 5:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.
Knox is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. Everything went their way against South Bend Career Academy as they made off with a 20-2 win. The Redskins' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Meanwhile, while Bremen put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for LaVille. The Lions put the hurt on the Lancers with a sharp 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won ten contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
JJ Cencelewski made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last 12 matchups.
In other batting news, Landon Bates and Jace Pippenger did most of the damage at the plate: Bates got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Pippenger got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Bates has posted since back in April. Zack Rouch was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Bremen always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as LaVille only posted an OBP of .167.
Bremen has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Knox, their victory bumped their record up to 6-14-2.
Knox might still be hurting after the 13-6 defeat they got from Bremen in their previous meeting on May 1st. Can the Redskins avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
