Basketball Recap: Center Takes a Loss

Center was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 54-40 to the Oakmont Vikings. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2021.

Despite the loss, Center still got an impressive performance from Reniaya Applin, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Applin has been hot, having also posted two or more blocks the last six times she's played. Kailee Coggins was another key player, putting up eight points along with eight boards and three steals.

Center's defeat dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Oakmont, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.

When Center and Oakmont next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Center will face off against Colfax and their four-game winning streak at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Oakmont will try to stop Bear River's three-game winning streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
