Basketball Game Preview: West Greene Pioneers vs. Geibel Catholic Gators

The West Greene Pioneers will take on the Geibel Catholic Gators on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as West Greene comes in on five and Geibel Catholic on 14.

West Greene is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Eden Christian Academy 59-29. The Pioneers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 30 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Geibel Catholic didn't have too much trouble with Serra Catholic two weeks ago as they won 67-53.

West Greene better keep an eye on Emma Larkin. She was instrumental in Geibel Catholic's win, going 10-for-22 to rack up 33 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Larkin's evening made it 11 games in a row in which she has scored at least 24 points. Janiah Darnell was another key player, dropping a double-double with 14 points and 12 boards.

Geibel Catholic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Geibel Catholic pushed their record up to 21-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for West Greene, their record is now 16-7.

West Greene lost to Geibel Catholic on the road by a decisive 52-35 margin in their previous meeting back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Larkin, who went 11-for-21 en route to 33 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists.
