Basketball Recap: Calaveras Comes Up Short

Calaveras has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 53-41 to the Twelve Bridges Raging Rhinos on Saturday. The Red Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Raging Rhinos apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

When it comes to explaining why Calaveras lost, don't look at Hannah Emerson. Despite the final result, she posted 14 points and eight rebounds. Those eight rebounds gave Emerson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariah Maddock, who put up ten points.

Twelve Bridges' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Addison Carpenter, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 15 boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Carpenter has scored at least a third of Twelve Bridges' points. Another player making a difference was Ashtyn Magee, who had eight points and 17 rebounds.

Calaveras' defeat dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Twelve Bridges, their record is now 8-3.

Calaveras didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 59-41 loss against Bella Vista on the 30th. As for Twelve Bridges, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 47-33 victory against Vacaville on the 30th.
