Football Recap: Decatur Eagles vs. Carter-Riverside Eagles
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Decatur). They really took it to Carter-Riverside for the full four quarters, racking up a 68-0 victory. Given Decatur's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 147th, while Carter-Riverside is ranked 1126th) , the win on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Decatur found their leader in sophomore Rhys Ragan, who threw for 175 yards and five touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes, and also rushed for 42 yards. Those five passing touchdowns set a new season-high mark for Ragan. Chase Berg was another key player, picking up 78 receiving yards and three scores.

Decatur was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 290 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Decatur, racking up 13 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Wyatt Dunn, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
