Soccer Game Preview: Lincoln vs. Oakmont

The Lincoln Fighting Zebras will venture away from home to face off against the Oakmont Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Lincoln's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Mira Loma with a sharp 3-0 win. The Fighting Zebras' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last four matches.

Alicia Osegueda was the driving force of Lincoln's attack as she scored all three of Lincoln's goals, bringing her season total up to 56 goals.

Meanwhile, Oakmont had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 goals) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They blew past the Matadors 4-0. Izabella Barragan Reidt had to tread lightly for part of the match after she was hit with a yellow card, but that was the only trouble the Vikings got from the refs.

Oakmont pushed their record up to 11-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those five contests. As for Lincoln, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season.

Lincoln skirted past Oakmont 4-3 in their previous matchup back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lincoln since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
