Softball Recap: Westminster Christian Has No Trouble Against Lutheran South

Westminster Christian had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Lutheran South on Monday. The Wildcats blew past the Lancers 6-0. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won four games by six runs or more so far this season.

Charlie Berkmeyer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Jaymison Lenk was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in October of 2024. Sophia Bell was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Westminster Christian hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive contests.

The victory got Westminster Christian back to even at 6-6. As for Lutheran South, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6-1 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Westminster Christian will take on Lutheran at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lutheran South, they will square off against St. Pius X at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
