Baseball Recap: Passaic Comes Up Short

Passaic extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping them down to 7-17. They came up short against the West Milford Highlanders, falling 16-0. The Indians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Highlanders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Passaic saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cristopher Fabian, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases. The Indians are 2-1 when Fabian posts two or more stolen bases, but 5-16 otherwise.

As for West Milford, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-7. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by seven runs or more this season.

On West Milford's side, Chase Tyburczy made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave Tyburczy a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles.

In other batting news, West Milford got a massive performance out of Mason LaNeve, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Kyle Schwarzlow, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Passaic does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for West Milford, they will head out to square off against Northern Highlands at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
