Softball Recap: Montrose Has No Trouble Against Walnut Grove

Montrose lost to Walnut Grove back in September of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Blue Jays put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 20-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Blue Jays.

Avery Wraight made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. Wraight was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (four).

In other batting news, Kelsey Carter was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emma Snyder, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Montrose always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .650. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Walnut Grove only posted an OBP of .304.

Montrose's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Walnut Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Montrose will welcome Clinton at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Walnut Grove, they will head out to challenge Humansville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
