Softball Recap: Bennington Drops Season-High Score on Burke

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bennington). They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Burke Bulldogs on Saturday. The Badgers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by seven runs or more this season.

Allie Boever looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, Alyssa Anderson was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in August. Another player making a difference was Kaelyn Muller, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Bennington hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Bennington has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Burke, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-15.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bennington will welcome Elkhorn North at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Badgers 4, the Wolves 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Burke, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Westview on Monday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolverines have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
