Basketball Recap: Kyla Emerson Key Part of a Team Effort in Warriors Win

San Pasqual Valley picked up another tournament win on Thursday. They blew past the Chino Valley Cougars 51-27. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 20 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead San Pasqual Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kyla Emerson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 19 boards. With that strong performance, Emerson is now averaging an impressive 10 rebounds per game. Another player making a difference was Daeja Villicana, who posted seven points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

San Pasqual Valley has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.3 points per game. As for Chino Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

San Pasqual Valley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 58-44 victory against Music Mountain on the 3rd. As for Chino Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Highland Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Highland Prep's defense has only allowed 27.5 points per game this season, so Chino Valley's offense will have their work cut out for them.
