Basketball Recap: McLane Takes a Loss

McLane played a tough matchup on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Justin Garza Guardians, falling 45-19. The Highlanders were not able to make up for their loss to the Guardians from their previous meeting back in November of 2023.

Justin Garza got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tyla Maxey out in front who posted 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lailah Whittle, who had 11 points.

This is the second loss in a row for McLane and nudges their season record down to 9-10. As for Justin Garza, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 7-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McLane will face off against Madera South at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Justin Garza, they will challenge Central at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
