Basketball Recap: Hollidaysburg Piles Up the Points Against Clearfield

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hollidaysburg). They blew past the Clearfield Bison 88-50 on Friday. The Golden Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 26 points or more this season.

Clearfield lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Sonny Diehl, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. Diehl is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last seven games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Eve Helsel, who posted 18 points.

The win (which was Hollidaysburg's fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-1. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.3 points per game. As for Clearfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.

After both having extra time off, Hollidaysburg and Forest Hills will shake off the cobwebs and face off against one another at 7:15 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Clearfield and Greater Johnstown will round out the year against one another at at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Clearfield is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61 points per game this season.
