Baseball Game Preview: Holy Spirit Prep Cougars vs. St. Mary's Academy Bobcats

Holy Spirit Prep is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Friday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Holy Spirit Prep Cougars duke it out with St. Mary's Academy Bobcats at 4:30 p.m. They have given up an average of 6.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Holy Spirit Prep managed to slip by Heritage Preparatory the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Holy Spirit Prep lost 15-5 to Heritage Preparatory on Friday. That makes it the first time this season the Cougars have let down their home crowd.

Christian Harrison was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while going 2-for-2. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Wingate, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, St. Mary's Academy made easy work of Cottage last Friday and carried off a 14-1 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bobcats.

Having lost for the first time this season, Holy Spirit Prep fell to 3-1. As for St. Mary's Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.

Everything went Holy Spirit Prep's way against St. Mary's Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Holy Spirit Prep made off with a 10-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Holy Spirit Prep since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
