Soccer Recap: Oakdale Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Oakdale's game on Friday was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Central Catholic Raiders. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 316th, while the Raiders are ranked 666th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Kaia Cox and Jocelyn Gradilla scored all three of Oakdale's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 12 goals.

Oakdale is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-9-1 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 13 goals over those five matches. As for Central Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10-3.

Oakdale wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Patterson on the 3rd. As for Central Catholic, they also didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next game, a 3-2 defeat against East Union on the 3rd.
