Football Recap: Kevonte Corbin Key Part of Team Effort in Buffalo Win

The Villages Charter had won three straight on the road, but on Friday they bumped up to 5-0 to make it four. Everything went their way against the Tavares Bulldogs as they made off with a 35-14 victory. Considering the Buffalo have won three matchups by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

The Villages Charter's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kevonte Corbin, who rushed for 46 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 42 receiving yards and one TD. The Buffalo also got help from Ja'Marian Clark, who showed off his sure hands for 97 receiving yards.

The Villages Charter didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Tavares to a completion percentage of just 50%. The Buffalo weren't nearly as limited: they posted one of 66.7%.

As for Tavares, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-2. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for they, who until this game were averaging 14.5 points allowed.

Tavares' loss came despite strong showings from Khairi Coleman and Tamauri Collins. Coleman threw for 166 yards and one touchdown, while Collins rushed for 104 yards on only 12 carries.

The Villages Charter didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 40-0 win against Belleview on the 26th. As for Tavares, they have also already played their next matchup, a 65-6 victory against Eustis on the 26th.
