Softball Recap: Pueblo Centennial Has No Trouble Against Mesa Ridge + How To Watch

Pueblo Centennial barely beat Mesa Ridge the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Grizzlies with a sharp 11-3 victory on Monday. Considering the Bulldogs have won five contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Ellie Zinanti spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on ten hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Pueblo Centennial let Juanita Portillo and Kayli Smiley run wild. Portillo went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Smiley went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most hits Portillo has posted since back in August.

Pueblo Centennial has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Mesa Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pueblo Centennial will venture away from home to take on Pueblo County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hornets' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Mesa Ridge, they will head out to challenge Widefield at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
