Softball Recap: Iberia Snags Sixth Victory in Last Eight Games

Iberia won the last time they faced Vienna and things went their way on Thursday too. The Rangers were the clear victors by a 12-4 margin over the Eagles. The Rangers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by seven runs or more this season.

Jaylyn Piggott made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kya Yoakum, who fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Katie Pryor, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Iberia has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Vienna, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Iberia will welcome Rolla at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Vienna, they will host Laquey at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
