Basketball Recap: Lauren Hurst's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lititz Christian over Christian School of York

Lititz Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 36-31 heartbreaker at the hands of Christian School of York. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 37-19 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Lititz Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Lauren Hurst, who posted six points along with eight boards and three steals. Hurst is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Najya Vega, who had seven points in addition to eight boards and four steals.

Even though they lost, Lititz Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Christian School of York's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Vivian Brown, who put up eight points and three steals. Those eight points gave Brown a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cally Carpenter, who posted ten points and four steals.

Lititz Christian's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Christian School of York, with the win, they broke their nine-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-6.

Lititz Christian will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Covenant Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 3rd. As for Christian School of York, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 40-8 victory against Coventry Christian on the 27th.
