Baseball Recap: Effingham County Victorious

Effingham County proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 12) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Evans Knights 6-4. This was payback for the Rebels, who suffered a 6-4 loss the last time these two teams met.

Kyle Thomas tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off 12 hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted over his last six games.

At the plate, Ryan Wells was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February.

Effingham County's win bumped their record up to 19-3. As for Evans, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Effingham County beat Evans by a score of 1-0 on Thursday.
