Upland skates past St. Lucy's with ease

The Upland Highlanders/Scots had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They claimed a resounding 60-15 victory over St. Lucy's at home. That 60-15 margin sets a new team best for Upland this season.

Upland got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Taniyah D purnell out in front who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Havili Hinilei matelau, who scored 11 points.

St. Lucy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kira Carroll, who scored five points along with three steals. Carroll has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 15 times she's played.

Upland is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a massive bump to their 9-9 record this season. As for St. Lucy's, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Upland will take on Los Osos at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Los Osos is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for St. Lucy's, they will be playing at home against Chino Hills at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chino Hills presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than St. Lucy's in California (Chino Hills is ranked 168th, while St. Lucy's is ranked 983rd).
