Baseball Game Preview: Ben Davis Giants vs. Avon Orioles

The Ben Davis Giants will take on the Avon Orioles at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Ben Davis' last matchup with Lawrence North could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest last Wednesday. The Giants lost 7-1 to the Wildcats. The Giants have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ben Davis handed starting duties to Ajani Anderson, who gave a strong showing despite the result: he pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits.

Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, Avon rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They walked away with a 7-4 win over the Red Devils. Winning may never get old, but the Orioles sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

The team relied heavily on Rylee Crain, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Jack Bland was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Avon hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive matchups.

Ben Davis' loss dropped their record down to 4-18. As for Avon, the victory got them back to even at 15-15-1.

Ben Davis suffered a grim 13-0 defeat to Avon in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Giants avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
