Basketball Recap: Monday's Loss Ends ABF Academy's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but ABF Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 67-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the American Heritage Patriots. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Cowboys came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 171st, while the Patriots are ranked 353rd).

When it comes to explaining why ABF Academy lost, don't look at Miguel Ruiz. Despite the final result, he posted 27 points. The dominant performance gave Ruiz a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Eric Dibami, who put up eight points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead American Heritage to victory, but perhaps none more so than Saeed Moghaddam, who went 7 for 13 en route to 24 points and seven boards. Noah Baqai was another key player, putting up 12 points in addition to seven assists and three steals.

ABF Academy's loss dropped their record down to 12-7. As for American Heritage, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-7.

ABF Academy is taking a road trip to face off against The Vine Christian Academy at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for American Heritage, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 50-48 victory against Cardinal Newman on the 21st.
