Recap: Upper Dauphin Area Trojans vs. Williams Valley Vikings
After a string of three wins, the Upper Dauphin Area Trojans's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 55-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Williams Valley. Upper Dauphin Area was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Williams Valley apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played on December 1st.
Upper Dauphin Area's loss came despite strong showings from Gracie Griffiths and Reagan Wentzel. Griffiths scored 21 points along with five rebounds and five steals, while Wentzel dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Griffiths scored a full 41.2% of Upper Dauphin Area's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emilee Deibert, who scored ten points.
Upper Dauphin Area's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Williams Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Upper Dauphin Area's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Mount Calvary Christian at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Mount Calvary Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Williams Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Our Lady of Lourdes Regional at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Our Lady of Lourdes Regional's defense has only allowed 28.8 points per game this season, so Williams Valley's offense will have their work cut out for Williams Valley.
