The Trinity Prep Crusaders will square off against the Rio Lindo Adventist Spartans at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Trinity Prep will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
While Trinity Prep didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-8), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They really took it to Napa Christian for the full four quarters, racking up a 60-30 win. Fans of the Crusaders have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.
Trinity Prep found their leader in sophomore Allie Duncan, who dropped a double-double on 34 points and 13 boards. That makes it five consecutive games in which Duncan has scored at least a third of Trinity Prep's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Avigail McDonald, who went 6 of 15 on her way to 15 points in addition to seven boards and six assists.
Trinity Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Rio Lindo Adventist was just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 20-19 to Pacific Union College Prep. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Trinity Prep will need focus on slowing down Achelynn Paul, one of several Rio Lindo Adventist players who made an impact when they last played. She posted eight points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Taala Thompson, who had two points and ten steals.
Trinity Prep's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 36.3 points. As for Rio Lindo Adventist, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.
Monday's contest is shaping up to be a scrappy game: Trinity Prep hasn't given up the ball easily this season, having only averaged 5.4 turnovers per game. It's a different story for Rio Lindo Adventist, though, as they've been averaging 30.5 turnovers. Given Trinity Prep's sizable advantage in that area, Rio Lindo Adventist will need to find a way to close that gap.
Trinity Prep ended up a good deal behind Rio Lindo Adventist in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, losing 41-22. Thankfully for Trinity Prep, Chitalu Munanga (who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
