Soccer Game Preview: Gunderson vs. Independence

Gunderson is on a six-game streak of home losses, Independence a five-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Thursday. The Gunderson Grizzlies will welcome the Independence 76ers at 6:00 p.m. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Gunderson is likely headed into the match with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Prospect on Tuesday. Gunderson fell just short of Prospect by a score of 2-1.

Gunderson's goal came courtesy of Gabriella Romero, who's now up to eight this season.

Meanwhile, Independence fell victim to Lincoln and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They lost 9-0 to the Lions. While losing is never fun, the 76ers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 1181st, while the Lions are ranked 541st).

Independence's loss dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Gunderson, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-14.

Gunderson took their win against Independence when the teams last played back in January by a conclusive 5-1. Does Gunderson have another victory up their sleeve, or will Independence turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
