Basketball Recap: Coleville Takes a Loss

After flying high against Sierra Sage Academy/Right Of Passage on Friday, Coleville came back down to earth. The Coleville Wolves were outmatched by the Pyramid Lake Lakers and fell 60-14. The Wolves were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-9.

Lillian James was Coleville's leading scorer, having posted six points. Hannah Armold held things down on the boards with nine rebounds.

Pyramid Lake's win on Saturday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kaitlin Mandell, who went 6 for 12 on her way to 14 points along with eight steals and five assists. That's the most steals Mandell has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lorena Eben, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.

Coleville's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Pyramid Lake, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Coleville and Smith Valley will meet in a dog eat dog contest at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pyramid Lake, they will face off against Virginia City at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
