Football Recap: Modesto Christian Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Modesto Christian came into this matchup off a tough 34-point loss last Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Central Grizzlies by a score of 21-19 on Friday. The Crusaders' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Despite the loss, Modesto Christian saw an underclassman step up: freshman Tamaseaula Mahafutau rushed for 75 yards and one touchdown, and also picked up 51 receiving yards and one TD.

A big part of Central's win came down to the chemistry between Andrew Sanchez and his top target Quincy Moore. Sanchez threw for 135 yards and one touchdown while Moore rushed for 114 yards. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 73 yards. Another big playmaker for Central was Jeremiah Lee, who returned a punt for a touchdown.

Modesto Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Central, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Modesto Christian will square off against Berean Christian at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Crusaders will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 28.5 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Central, they will take on Cabrillo at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Grizzlies' defense better be ready for this one: the Conquistadores have averaged an impressive 38.7 points per game this season.
