Football Game Preview: Hanover Wildcats vs. Wakefield Bombers

Hanover has gone a perfect 4-0 against Wakefield recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Wildcats will challenge the Bombers at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Hanover has five straight wins, Wakefield has 12 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Hanover's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 48-0 victory over Blue Valley. Fans of the Wildcats have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Wakefield's offense. They had to suffer through a 46-0 loss at the hands of Axtell. While losing is never fun, the Bombers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas football rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while the Eagles are ranked sixth).

Hanover's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Wakefield, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Everything came up roses for Hanover against Wakefield in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 68-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
