Jefferson is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They came up short against Cherokee Bluff, falling 13-5.

Meanwhile, Monroe Area made easy work of East Hall on Friday and carried off a 12-1 victory. The Purple Hurricanes have beaten the Vikings the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Vikings has come to flipping the script.

Monroe Area got a great performance from Parker Ashley as he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Ashley a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, Monroe Area let Cayson Gmerek and Hamilton Shinn run wild. Gmerek scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Shinn went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. What's more, Gmerek posted two RBI, the most he's had since March 4th. Parker Sims was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Monroe Area always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Monroe Area's win bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Jefferson, their loss dropped their record down to 10-12.

Jefferson was able to grind out a solid victory over Monroe Area in their previous matchup back in March of 2020, winning 9-4. Does Jefferson have another victory up their sleeve, or will Monroe Area turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
