Football Recap: Texico Skates Past Navajo Prep with Ease + How To Watch

With a playoff win on the line, Texico rose to the challenge on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Navajo Prep Eagles 54-6. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won four contests by 44 points or more so far this season.

Cross Figg had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 248 yards and three TDs on only 13 carries. Those 248 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Bennett Wahlen was another key passer, throwing for 96 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Texico was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 345 rushing yards. They are a perfect 6-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Texico didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Jaheim Moses led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself.

When it comes to explaining why Navajo Prep lost, don't look at Gracin Vigil. Despite the final result, he picked up 145 receiving yards and one score.

The victory (which was Texico's sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.3 points on average over those games. As for Navajo Prep, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-3 record.

Coming up, Texico will square off against Hozho Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Wolverines will need to watch out since the Wolves have now posted at least 31 points in their last three matchups. Navajo Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
