Soccer Game Preview: Berkeley vs. Castro Valley

The Berkeley Yellowjackets will venture away from home to challenge the Castro Valley Trojans at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Berkeley's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They came out on top against Encinal by a score of 2-0. Given the Yellowjackets' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 385th, while the Jets are ranked 800th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Castro Valley, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They skirted past Piedmont 1-0.

Berkeley pushed their record up to 6-7-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three contests. As for Castro Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 5-6-1 record this season.
