Basketball Recap: Central Dauphin Snaps 17-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Central Dauphin has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were one points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 45-44 heartbreaker at the hands of the State College Little Lions. That's two games in a row now that the Rams have lost by just one point.

Central Dauphin's loss on Friday came despite strong showings from Mikayla Matincheck and Olivia Green. Matincheck almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds, while Green almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds. Green has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Kayanah Taylor was another key player, going 5 of 10 on her way to 11 points.

Even though they lost, Central Dauphin smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive matchups.

Central Dauphin's defeat ended a 17-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 9-4. As for State College, their victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Central Dauphin will host William Penn at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Central Dauphin is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.7 points per game this season. As for State College, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Altoona at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Altoona will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something State College surely won't give up without a fight.
