Basketball Recap: Jac-Cen-Del Comes Up Short

Jac-Cen-Del extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to nine on Saturday, dropping them down to 0-2. They lost 95-73 to the Batesville Bulldogs. The Eagles were down 76-50 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Despite the loss, Jac-Cen-Del still got an impressive performance from Darian Grieshop, who shot 61% from the field to rack up 25 points along with seven assists and five steals. Grieshop has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times he's played. Blake Wagner was another key player, going 5-for-10 en route to 13 points and four steals.

As for Batesville, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0. They haven't had any issues with Jac-Cen-Del recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

James Hughes was a one-man wrecking crew as he shot 67% from the field on his way to 33 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. Another player making a difference was Trenten Luers, who went 6-for-10 to rack up 16 points.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Jac-Cen-Del will head out to square off against South Dearborn at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Batesville, they are packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will challenge Greensburg at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup will give the Bulldogs their first taste of in-conference action this season.
