Football Game Preview: Greenbrier East Spartans vs. James Monroe Mavericks + Official Tickets

The Greenbrier East Spartans will take on the James Monroe Mavericks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Greenbrier East is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of West Virginia's top teams: Bluefield, who was ranked 13th at the time (Greenbrier East was ranked 25th). The Spartans took a 27-13 bruising from the Beavers on Friday. The Spartans haven't had much luck with the Beavers recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Meanwhile, James Monroe didn't have too much trouble with Westside on Friday as they won 34-18. The Mavericks haven't had any issues with the Renegades recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

James Monroe's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Greenbrier East, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.

Greenbrier East beat James Monroe 26-14 in their previous meeting back in August of 2019. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Mavericks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
