Softball Recap: Marquette Comes Up Short

Saturday just wasn't the day for Marquette's offense. They fell just short of the West Branch Bears by a score of 2-0 on Saturday. The Defenders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bears apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in June of 2024.

Marquette has also been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for West Branch, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-6 record this season.

Coincidentally, Marquette and West Branch will both be playing Columbus the next time they take the field. The Bears will head out to face the Wildcats at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Defenders will play them later in the day, at 1:00 p.m.
