Baseball Recap: Mt. Eden Find Success

Mt. Eden won against Hayward on Wednesday with six runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Monarchs came out on top against the Farmers by a score of 6-2. The victory continues a trend for the Monarchs in their matchups with the Farmers: they've now won five in a row.

Javier Alfaro made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Mt. Eden: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-16 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jayden Schafer, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Mt. Eden is undefeated when Schafer posts two or more runs, but 4-16 otherwise. Johnny Coleman was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Mt. Eden's record is now 8-16. As for Hayward, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-13.
