Preview: Mira Monte Lions vs. Foothill Trojans
Mira Monte is 10-0 against Foothill since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Mira Monte Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Foothill Trojans at 6:30 p.m. Mira Monte has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 30.
Mira Monte suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They were outmatched by Arvin at home and fell 62-18. While losing is never fun, Mira Monte can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1277th, while Arvin is ranked 582nd).
Even though Foothill has not done well against Golden Valley recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Foothill came out on top against Golden Valley by a score of 34-24.
Mira Monte's loss was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-12. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 24.5 points per game. As for Foothill, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-13.
Mira Monte took their win against Foothill when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 59-36. Will Mira Monte repeat their success, or does Foothill have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
