Football Recap: West Ranch Triumphs

West Ranch's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They came out on top against the Antelope Valley Antelopes by a score of 23-13. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Antelopes: they've now won six in a row.

Blake Johnson looked great while leading his team to the win, throwing for 140 yards and two touchdowns, while also punching in one TD on the ground. That's the most passing yards he has posted since back in October of 2024. Charlie Samuelson did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 87 receiving yards.

Despite the loss, Antelope Valley still got an impressive performance from Maddox Caldwell, who rushed for 158 yards and one score on only 12 carries. Caldwell's longest rush was for an impressive 60 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

West Ranch's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Antelope Valley, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, West Ranch will square off against Thousand Oaks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Antelope Valley, they will challenge Rim of the World at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
