Soccer Game Preview: Mountain View vs. Gabrielino

After a short break, it's finally time for some more action. The Mountain View Vikings will look to defend their home pitch on Tuesday against the Gabrielino Eagles at 3:30 p.m.

Mountain View is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to eight goals two weeks ago, they were much more limited against Savanna two weeks ago. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Rebels an easy 6-1 win. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 908th, while the Rebels are ranked 367th).

Meanwhile, Gabrielino kept a clean sheet against El Monte back in December of 2024. They were the clear victor by a 3-0 margin over the Lions. Considering the Eagles have won three matchups by more than two goals this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Mountain View has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6-3 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 21 goals over those eight games. As for Gabrielino, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2-2.
